Your Bucket List–How to make one and why it might change your life

I have a passion for Bucket Lists.  There are so many reasons to create yours, now, today, before another moment passes.  A Bucket List can help you realize what your goals and passions truly are, and how and where you should be spending your time and energy.  A Bucket List can start as a dream, develop into a vision, and be realized with a strategy.  Get a pen or grab your phone and START NOW.  You can list a hundred items, a thousand items, or just a precious few.  You can organize by categories like "Travel", "Career", "Family", "Financial", and endless more, or just jot down anything and everything that comes to mind in a stream of consciousness.  There are no wrong answers, and everything you produce is valuable.

Now, if you have spare time, another perhaps even more rewarding exercise is to also create your "Reverse Bucket List".  This is a list of things you have already accomplished, anything you are proud of, from the big ones like a graduation or major career milestone, to the smallest and most meaningful ones like paying for someone's coffee or taking a risk you were uncertain about.

These activities help to put your life and your goals into perspective.  Wherever your passion is, the satisfaction of pursuing and engaging with it is nearly as great as the actual accomplishment of the goal.  By imagining the life you want to lead, you are already well along the path to creating that life.  In the words of Henry David Thoreau, "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.  Live the life you have imagined.  As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler."

In creating my own Bucket List and using it like a checklist for life, I have accomplished and experienced things I would never have though possible.  In this blog I will be sharing some of those experiences from the past ten years, including moving to Hawaii, backpacking 14 US National Parks, swimming with dolphins in the Pacific Ocean AND in the Amazon River, getting a Master's Degree while working full time, traveling throughout Japan, taking control of my financial life, and hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

Check back regularly to share in these stories as well as for outlines of all of my upcoming adventures and my journey to knock each and every experience and destination off of my Bucket List.  Then, when you decide the time is right, contact me to book your own once in a life time Bucket List adventure and LIVE THE LIFE YOU HAVE IMAGINED!
